Jonathan Despinidic / Speaking

The future needs better questions.

The way we work, build businesses and create value is changing. The most useful conversations start with what that means in practice.

I speak about technology from the perspective of someone building it. My focus is on AI, entrepreneurship, intelligent business systems and the questions leaders should be asking about what comes next.

Four ideas to take on stage.

01

PRACTICAL AI

Your business doesn't need another AI tool.

The organisations getting value from AI will not necessarily be the ones buying the most AI products.

Before automating a process, you need to understand it. Before connecting an AI agent, you need to know what data it can access, what decisions it can make and what happens when something goes wrong. This session explores a practical path from understanding a business to implementing automation and AI where it creates genuine value. The discussion draws on hands-on experience building software and operating systems for Australian businesses.

Suitable for: Business owners, professional services, executives

02

FUTURE OF WORK

When software starts doing the work.

For decades, we have used software to help us do our jobs. What happens when it begins doing parts of the job itself?

Intelligent agents are beginning to coordinate applications, act on information and complete work that once required a person moving between multiple systems. That raises bigger questions than productivity alone. What changes for teams, management, accountability and the way we design businesses? This presentation explores the emerging digital workforce, with practical examples and a clear distinction between what is working today and what remains a possibility.

Suitable for: Leadership teams, innovation groups, technology audiences

03

AI GOVERNANCE

Stop giving AI agents the keys to everything.

A clever prompt is not a security boundary.

As businesses connect AI to email, CRMs, customer records and financial systems, they also introduce new responsibilities. This session challenges the instinct to give an agent broad access and hope for the best. Instead, it explores why clear permissions, accountable workflows, human oversight and deliberate system design should come first. It is a practical conversation about deploying useful AI without losing control of the business.

Suitable for: Technology leaders, regulated industries, business operators

04

FUTURE OF BUSINESS

The future of business is bigger than software.

The next big transformation may not be another app. It may be a different way of organising work.

Artificial intelligence, financial technology and intelligent systems are converging in ways that could change how businesses are built and how customers interact with them. What happens when AI agents become customers? Could a much smaller team build a much bigger business? Will people still interact with applications in the same way? This talk brings an entrepreneur's perspective to those questions, grounded in experience building technology businesses.

Suitable for: Conference audiences, entrepreneurs, executives
